Bus Stop Public Art Project
Updated: Nov 7, 2022
Just as people want to linger and spend time in a well decorated house, the same is true with neighborhoods that have vibrant and interesting public areas. Thanks to the neighbors who helped yesterday with Round 2 of the ongoing Delaware Avenue Bus Stop beautification project.
5 GOALS WE HOPE TO ACHIEVE:
(1) KEEP BUILDING WILMINGTON AND 8TH DISTRICT IN PARTICULUR AS THE ART CAPITAL OF DELAWARE
(2) ADD TO NEIGHBORHOOD APPEAL BY TURNING PUBLIC SPACE FLAWS INTO VISUAL ASSETTS
See before and after pictures of view from this intersection, entry point to the 8th District neighborhoods
(3) ADD UPLIFTING EVERY YEAR-ROUND ENERGY
Sun shine and brightness – to stick out during coming winter months of cold, darkness at 5pm or earlier
(4) INCREASE BUS RIDERSHIP
Making waiting for the bus more enjoyable will contribute to more people riding the bus.....helping ease car reliance and parking pressures
(5) ENCOURAGE SIMILAR PROJECTS CITY WIDE
They don't have to be complicated or time consuming to get off the ground.
It only took a few emails to get permission and at most $500 in supplies, and a group of people from the neighborhood wanting to make it nicer.
